A Catch up with Rob Waine
Posted by Equine Essentials Direct on 26th Apr 2018
With summer just around the corner, Equine Essentials Direct’s sponsored rider, Rob Waine, is as busy as ever. We recently caught up with him to see what he’s been up to and to hear all about his success at the NAF Winter Championships.
The competition was held over five days at Hartpury Arena in Gloucestershire and it’s safe to say Rob seemed delighted with the results. Rob told us how it was a fantastic show for both BamBam and a new horse that he’s taken on, Jennifer Nissen’s DHI Lightening, with both horses competing at Advanced Medium level. “I was over the moon with their performance, resulting in a 4th place finish for Lightening and 5th place for BamBam; to have two horses in the top 5 was a perfect finish.”
Rob also spoke of his other horses, Sanssouci and Nazareno Vicon, and how he is currently carrying out Sanssouci’s summer qualification at Elementary before she moves up to Medium. Naza on the other hand is currently working on his fitness ready for the higher levels.
It’s clear that Rob’s schedule has been nonstop for the last few months as he has just started competing with DHI Lightening at PSG and is very pleased that he has taken to it so positively. The forthcoming season of Premier League shows is sure to be an interesting time for Rob, BamBam and Lightening as Rob hopes to gain the scores required to compete BamBam internationally for Great Britain at Small Tour Level.
Meanwhile, things appear as busy as ever with Rob’s clients also bringing home excellent results from competitions. “I had two placed in the top 3, one in the top 5 and one in the top 10 at the Nationals, as a trainer their success brings me so much happiness but I can't believe how nerve racking it is watching them compared to riding yourself; I was a nervous wreck!”.
It doesn’t seem like things will be slowing down anytime soon either, with May seeing the start of the 2017 Rob Waine Dressage Unaffiliated Dressage Series, which is now in its fourth year. An exciting couple of months are definitely ahead for Rob, with the first Summer Camps being held in May as well. The two half-day camps are sure to be intense, with a one on one lesson with Rob, a sports massage from Sharon and then finishing with a Rider Pilates session with Amanda; participants can expect to have a jam-packed day!
There are still a couple of places available so do check out Rob’s website for more information and to see his schedule for the coming months.
